Planai-Hochwurzen
Preparations are in full swing
From the 4th to the 17th of February 2013, Schladming will be in the centre of attention in the skiing world as venue of the 42nd FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. Schladming is familiar with this role; it was already the venue for the Championships in 1982. Preparations for the spectacle are in full swing.
Countdown! On Planai, investments of approximately 40 million Euros have been made to get ready for the World Ski Championships - and guests do already profit from this NOW. Many slopes were broadened, three bridges and a tunnel were built, “Planet-Planai“ as a state-of-the-art base station building was opened, two 8-person chair lifts were installed, the new WM-Park Planai has already become popular, the snow machine was improved so that the overall artificial snowmaking now only takes 50 hours, etc. Overall the Planai-Bahnen will invest about 52 million Euros in the biggest sport spectacle of the year 2013.
Slope restrictions due to the World Ski Championships will only be minimal in 2013. At any time, 85 % of all slopes will be accessible unrestrainedly for skiing.
