In exactly one year’s time, it will happen: the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013 with the motto “Ski Festival with Heart” will take place in the region Schladming-Dachstein. This was the crucial factor why the two companies ÖSV (Austrian Ski Federation) and Schladming 2030 decided to have a talk with the mayors of the area. It is the common aim to realize distinctive and unique Championships in the region next year and to generate enduring positive impacts on the region after the Championships. The ÖSV and Schladming 2030 GmbH both care about the cooperation with the local population. After the talk, all mayors agreed,
"We are looking forward to the World Ski Championships 2013!”
Mr. Trinker, mayor of Rohrmoos, commented, “The World Ski Championships offer the unique chance of presenting the whole region to the public for two weeks.” “We have to make sure to use this marketing opportunity the best way possible to make the best out of the added value of the region and gain advantages for the population”, Mr. Winter (Schladming) added.
The mayors of Ramsau, Mr. Angerer, and of Pichl-Preunegg, Mr. Spielbichler, also believe in a rise in tourism and added value as a result of the increased attention. “This major event offer the opportunity to profit from it for the upcoming decades – in a sporting way, but also when it comes to tourism“, Mr. Reinbacher, mayor of Gössenberg, said. Vice mayor of Haus, Mr. Knapp, is sure that the Ski World Championships will be a huge economic factor for the region. Mr. Danklmaier, mayor of Aich, added, “Investments we carry out will be important and available for the population in the long run.“
“The majority of the infrastructure projects that are now being carried out or have already been carried out in regards to the World Ski Championships by either public authorities or private companies were necessary anyways. They guarantee the sustainability of the region. The budget for the infrastructure measures does not concern the event budget per se”, the coordinator of the Schladming 2030 GmbH, Alfred Baier, explained. Reinhold Zitz, appointed as the Head of Organization of the World Ski Championships 2013 by the ÖSV (the ÖSV is the host and organizer of the Championships), assured, “Everything’s going according to plan, we have great ambitions and the cooperation with Schladming is going very well, I am very confident.” All gentlemen are confidently and positively looking forward to the World Ski Championships. For the remaining year, the motto now is “ to pull together” to co-organize unforgettable FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013!
