An Impressive Result

On Sunday afternoon, directly after the slalom, when the World Ski Championships came to an end in the fascinating Planai ski stadium and the WSC flag was handed over to Vail (host city of the WSC 2015), the whole skiing scene and the successful medal winners, about 300,000 spectators on the ground and the organizing committee were looking back on exciting, eventful days of great sporting performances and taking a closer look on impressive numbers.

Hirscher makes Austria feel gold frenzy

Unbelievable! In the final of the 42nd Alpine World Ski Championships that could not have been any more dramatic Marcel Hirscher fulfilled his dream – and that of millions of Austrians – of winning the slalom gold medal in Schladming.

Hirscher in the lead after the first run

Austria can keep hopes up for the first individual gold medal. After the first slalom run Marcel Hirscher is in the lead, ahead of Felix Neureuther (+ 0.28) and Mario Matt (+ 0.56).
